Did anyone watch the Emmys Sunday night? I for one am sick of all the cable shows winning most of them. Maybe if the main networks would get off the reality show kick and show some quality shows, they would get most of the Emmy Awards. Besides, I thought there used to be an award show just for the cable channels.
Arrested Development deserved its Emmy. That's a really funny yet underrated show on Fox. And I'm glad Angels in America did so well. It was one of the best miniseries of last year.
I just read in my local paper today that this year's Emmy broadcast was only watched by 14 million people, which sounds like a lot of people, but considering it was broadcast in many countries, is not a good rating. The person who wrote the article said that the high number of cable shows nominated for Emmys is one reason the ratings are going down each year because not everyone watches or even has cable. I firmly believe there should be an Emmy show for the major broadcast networks and a separate award show for cable shows. Then more people would get the awards they deserve, and network television would be more motivated to put on quality shows.
